
Bishop George W. + Lady Edna G. Brooks
Bishop George W. Brooks is Pastor Emeritus of Mount Zion Baptist Church of Greensboro, Inc., where he served faithfully as Chief Elder and Senior Pastor for 37 years. He also served for over ten years as Bishop of Administration for the Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship, Inc.
Bishop Brooks holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Technology from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University in Greensboro, North Carolina, a Master of Divinity degree from Shaw University in Raleigh, North Carolina, and a Doctorate of Ministry degree from Friends International Christian University in Merced, California. After accepting the call to ministry in December 1974 and being licensed to preach the gospel in March 1975, Bishop Brooks began his service as Pastor of Mount Zion Baptist Church.
Under his leadership, Mount Zion Baptist Church became an international ministry, growing from fewer than 100 members to over 5,000, with missions in West Africa and Haiti. His ministry is devoted to promoting a clear understanding of Scripture and bringing godly change to communities around the world.
He is the co-founder of the Welfare Reform Liaison Project, a vehicle through which welfare recipients are empowered to become self-sufficient. This project has become a national model. Bishop Brooks travels extensively, speaking at conferences and revivals and accepting other opportunities to proclaim the gospel. He endeavors to speak what the heart of God is saying to His people with relevance and clarity.
As a two-time author and believer in holistic ministry, Bishop Brooks serves the community on a local, state, and national level via the Tri-State Christian Television (TCT) Board of Directors, Mechanics and Farmers Bank Board of Directors, the North Carolina A&T State University College of Arts & Sciences Advisory Board, Beautiful Butterflies, Inc. (a nonprofit Lupus Foundation), and various advisory boards and boards of directors. He also currently serves as the Suffragan Bishop of Global United Fellowship.
Bishop Brooks was named among the “Most Influential People in the Triad” by the Business Journal from 2005 to 2012. Along with many other prestigious awards, he has also received the Lifetime Community Service Award from the International Civil Rights Center and Museum, been granted the “Order of the Long Leaf Pine” by the Governor of North Carolina, and inducted into the National Black College Alumni Hall of Fame.
A native of Hillsborough (Orange County), North Carolina, Bishop Brooks is the son of the late Rev. Luther A. Brooks and the late Catherine Brooks. He and his wife, Edna, have two children, Kevin (Kim) and Keva (Calvin), and five grandchildren: Jocelyn, Kiandra (Ryan), Gavin, Kaleb, and the late Keyon J. Brooks.

Lady Edna Brooks is an author, counselor, and leader who has had a unique walk and experience with God. She has grown to love Him with her whole body, soul, and spirit. Having been healed by God at an early age from a brain tumor, Lady Brooks believes in the miraculous power of God.
For 37 years, Lady Brooks ministered to numerous adults and young people through teaching, leading people to Christ, and counseling alongside her husband, who is the Pastor Emeritus of Mount Zion Baptist Church of Greensboro, Inc., as well as during his time as Bishop of Administration for the Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship International and currently with Global United Fellowship.
Lady Brooks’ desire to see men and women prosper in their spiritual growth led her to teach, inspire, uplift, and encourage others through several Bible studies, including Word on Wednesday Bible Study, Family Matters, and “Sista to Sista.” She and her husband mentor and train pastors and their wives via “The Elijah Project.” Lady Brooks is a powerful teacher who uses practical applications to encourage women, families, and the body of Christ. She and her husband also empower couples through marriage seminars and conferences. She spends many hours counseling and providing assistance to those in need.
Lady Brooks received her Bachelor of Arts degree from North Carolina A&T State University and a Master of Religious Arts in Christian Psychology from Jacksonville Theological Seminary. She was given an honorary Bachelor’s degree in Biblical Studies from One In Christ Bible College. She has attended numerous seminars and conferences, which have aided her personal spiritual growth, and is a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors (AACC). Prior to retirement, she served as Director of Encouragement at Mount Zion Baptist Church, where she had oversight of eighteen (18) ministries, including Senior Missionaries, Helping Hands (emergency assistance), Daughters of Destiny, Men of Valor, Partners for Life (marriage ministry), Biblical Counseling, Couples of Hope (lay counseling ministry), Redeemed, Set Free (post-abortion ministry), CanCare (cancer support ministry), Ministry of Helps (volunteer ministry), Scouts (including Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Cub Scouts), Cell Groups, SMIRS (young boys), and Pearls of Purpose (young girls).
Lady Brooks enjoys serving her community. She has worked with Beautiful Butterflies, Inc., a lupus foundation, worked on the campaign for Senator Gladys Robinson, and supported Urban Ministry.
Lady Brooks is the dedicated wife of Bishop George W. Brooks, mother of Kevin (Kim) and Keva (Calvin), and grandmother of Kaleb, Kiandra (Ryan), Jocelyn, Gavin, and the late Keyon J. Brooks.
